Don’t
forget, if you signed up for the Guild Mystery Trip the time has
arrived! We are to meet this Saturday, September 13th
before 8am at the Old Walmart parking lot in
Port Clinton. The bus will leave promptly at 8am, so plan your
travels accordingly and get there in time to get a cup of coffee and
pick out your seats. As of the August meeting, there were still 12
spots available, but be sure to contact Peggy Horgan if you need one
of the additional spots.
The August
program was presented by Janette Willman, “The Frugal Quilter” and she
gave a humorous and very informative program on quilting tools not
necessarily found in our favorite quilt shops. When she was through,
I had a list of about two dozen ideas to pick up on my next trip to
TSC,
Wal-Mart, K-Mart, the hardware store, and the smoothie
shop!!!! Who knew all those household items could be so useful in the
sewing room!!!
The quilt
show in July was a great success. It was visited by 273 paid viewers
and had a net profit of over $1,000.00! Kudos to all members of the
quilt show committees for an outstanding job….Well Done!
Bonnie Legg
and De Masing asked to be relieved of the responsibility of the raffle
quilt. Beth Jadwisiak volunteered to contact the
United Way and/or the Salvation Army to find out who is
responsible for the “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep” organization, and see
if they would want to sell tickets for the remaining two months to
increase the amount of money we will be donating to them.
At the
October 22nd
meeting we will be pulling the winning ticket to find out who wins the
raffle quilt, so please turn in all moneys and tickets ASAP to Barb
Hanny. We also will be discussing the possible formation of a
two-year raffle quilt committee, so bring all your ideas.
Jacki
Zeigler asked to be replaced on the Publicity Committee and as the
Guild Historian. Sandy Erwin graciously volunteered to fill both
vacancies. Thanks for stepping up Sandy !!!
Sadly, Carol
Swope has resigned as Co-President due to her husband’s illness. The
Guild decided not to elect another Co-President, so I will continue on
my own (with lots of help from the other officers and others I am
sure!!!)
Barb Hanny
collected quilt squares made for the “Relay
For Life Quilt” being made by Sharon Knoop. Since the squares
are small, many, many more are needed. Please see the attached
instructions and lets all make a dozen or more for Sharon !!!!
A supply
list was given for the “It’s A Wrap” workshop to be held on October 18th
at 9:00am. It is attached.
The
fundraising committee has planned a “Chinese
Auction” for us at the November 19th meeting. They
want you to clean out your sewing rooms and bring in anything quilt
related: books, patterns, fabric, notions, even quilts, or UFO’s, etc.
ASAP. Then at the November meeting, we will bid on the items with all
the proceeds going to the Guild. Sounds like a really good time so
get cleaning.
Jo Coon made
CD’s of the quilt show and still has some for sale. Please see her at
the next meeting to purchase one.
Block
Exchange: Jo Coon’s blocks were returned to her and Carol Spaulding’s
were passed out. Carol is asking all involved to please make two
blocks for her, as they are easy ones.
The
hostesses for the month of September are: Pat Jones, Katie Binkley,
Penny Groscost, Pat Mensing, and Janice Palardy.
Keep
Stitchin’!!
