Good morning quilting friends,
I hope that everyone takes
advantage of that extra hour to do something special for themselves. I
am sure we have all wished for some extra time on a project..and now it
is here!
I was fortunate to have the
opportunity to quilt on the Irish Chain fundraiser quilt for our guild.
And that is what I did with my extra hour! If anyone wants to
add a few stitches to the quilt, get your name on the list by calling
Catherine Lewis with a time convenient for you.
What a grand program Penny
provided for us in October. Wasn’t Jennifer McCann filled with ideas and
wonderful information? She certainly put a fun spin on determining the
color values of fabrics. Over the left shoulder, over the right
shoulder, and then upside down, with a final squint at the fabrics to
see if they work.
Again we stood for roll call,
so that identification of members is easier. Remember to pick up and
wear your name tags during the meeting, and sit with someone new during
refreshment time. Our group continues to grow and making those new
members feel more welcome is our goal.
The Christmas Party will be
on Dec. 5th at Avery’s located in
Marblehead with a donation of hats, gloves, mittens, or scarves
for the Holiday Bureau in
Port Clinton and Oak Harbor. The reservation, menu choice, and
payment of $18.00 must be made by November 28. Dessert will follow at
Brenda Hollensen’s home in
Marblehead. Sounds like a good party.
The workshop committee
members had good news for all. Workshops are planned for January 12,
April 12, and May 12. Oh, what fun! Stay tuned for further information.
The Quilt Show Committee is
hard at work and the members were asked to consider having an appraiser
at the show. If that would be important to you, be sure to relay that
information to Sandy Erwin. Remember, this is your show. So, if you
have a quilt(s) in the show you will be expected to help with the
preparation the day before the show opens. It is a big job, and many
hands make light the work.
A new block exchange will
begin in January with 14 members participating. The rotation for this
block exchange will begin in January. When Sue gets home from vacation,
she will send the rotation list for all. I only know that I am the last
one in the exchange. :
Keep working on your
challenge..it consists of three purples and a curve..and of course one
additional color can be added. The deadline is March of 2008.
Linus quilts will be constructed at the
November meeting. The sign up sheet for
sewing machines, irons and ironing boards, cutting mats and
cutters, was passed around. If you signed for equipment, please bring
the needed supply along with an extension cord if you have one. If you
have a question, please call Bonnie Legg.
Hostesses for the November meeting are Charlotte McNerney, Sandy Erwin,
Polly Stuckman, and Cece Henry.
Birthdays for November include Sandy Sedlmeier 11/8, Peggy Waddington
11/16.
Anniversaries include Betty Fenn 11/30, Jody Gagnon 11/28, Barb Hanny
11/23.
Remember to bring your items for show and tell. We have wonderful
examples of our guild member’s workmanship. Always something new to
challenge everyone. It is good to work “outside the comfort zone” once
and a while. Take a challenge, and look right over your shoulder, left
over your shoulder, upside down, and then squint!
Enjoy! See you the 28th.
