The May meeting took place in what could only be referred to as a “flood of Biblical proportions”. Sorry to those of you who could not make it….but with the timing of the rain (I could never have gotten you all contacted to cancel anyway), the fact that our speaker was already here (do to the two day workshops she was teaching), and not knowing how fast the water would recede (my dove was not up for flying that afternoon), I decided to go ahead with the meeting. Surprisingly, we had a really good turn out (many had their arks in good repair and were ready to make the trip). Jennifer McCann gave us quite a load of tips for paper piecing, had a paper pieced pattern of the for sale at a minimal cost, and we got to see what the ‘workshoppers’ had accomplished that day…..the Calla Lilys were in full bloom and beautiful!!!!!
The New Roster book and membership cards were given out last month, for those of you not in attendance…I will try to get the rest to Polly so you can get them at the next meeting. Polly will be conducting the meeting in June for me. I will be getting a new knee that day and do not plan on being out and about by the evening!!!!
Please email any changes/corrections for the roster book to me at kahirt@yahoo.com
A budget was presented to the quild by Barb Hanny, Treasurer. This was voted on and approved as the operating budget for this next year.
On a sad note….Barb Hanny turned in her resignation for the position of Guild Treasurer. She and her husband will be moving to Avon, IN. The nominations committee will be coming up with someone to fill the last few months of Barb’s term, and will hopefully have news for us in June.
In May, we got the raffle tickets to sell and need to sell as many as possible. If you did not have your ark in good repair and were unable to attend last months flood, the tickets will be available again at the June meeting (see Donna Sijan)!! This quilt will be raffled at our August 26 meeting. Sell, Sell, Sell!!!!!!
The workshop committee has put together a workshop to help work on the raffle quilt for next year and this will be on July 18th. It is open to all who would like to help make this raffle quilt a success.
Catherine Lewis passed out her blocks for the BOM club (she is the last one for the last years BOM). Perhaps, everyone who participated this last year could bring what they have finished for a BOM show and tell in June!
We passed around a sign-up sheet for a new BOM group….there were 13 members who signed up. The first month will be in July and here is the schedule:
