The May
meeting was held on May 28th. Bonnie Legg gave us an update
on the Stim Quilt project. Looks like we will have six more quilts
finished due to the volunteers that took home quilts and quilt parts to
finish. There will also be a table at the quilt show in July to explain
the Stim Quilt Project to the public.
New Guild
Roster Books, nametags and membership cards were handed out. Those
members, who have not picked theirs up by the June 25th
meeting, will be receiving them by mail.
Raffle
tickets for the quilt were handed out to all in attendance. A
percentage of dollars raised will be given to the “Now I Lay Me Down to
Sleep” organization here in Ottawa Co. They provide beds and bedding to
children in need. If you are in need of additional raffle tickets,
please see De Masing. All $ turned in from the sale of tickets should
be directed to Barb Hanny. The drawing for the quilt will held in
October.
Penny
Groscost graciously volunteered to shadow the publicity chairman now for
the 2010 quilt show. Thanks Penny!!!
Registration
Forms were also handed out at the May meeting. You will need 2 copies
of the registration form filled out for each quilt you enter in the
quilt show in July. Quilt show entries will be accepted at the Nautical
Needle, July 7-11 from 10-4 pm, or at the Ida Rupp Library Monday, July
14 from 11-2 pm. NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER MONDAY, JULY 14,
2008. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS.
The Quilt
Challenge Committee has given us a new challenge for this year. The
challenge is entitled “Rainbow”. This is wide open for interpretation
and all of us should be able to rise to this challenge. Let’s rally and
all try to complete this challenge by next March!!
Mary Ann
Fitz gave a very informative presentation on a reversible,
quilt-as-you-go technique. It is so nice to have someone else blaze the
way, find what works well and what didn’t work as well, and then be
willing to share the knowledge with others!! Thanks again Mary Ann!!
On Saturday,
June 21st, the workshop committee put together a very nice
day for all who attended. Our first stop was at the Follet House Museum
in Sandusky. We were given a guided tour that included all four floors
of the house and then were surprised with a spectacular view from the
widow’s walk. Our second stop was at Sandy Erwin’s home where we
enjoyed seeing her quilting studio, her soon to be bed and breakfast
rooms, the view of the lake from her back deck and had a delicious lunch
of chicken salad croissants, several yummy summer salads and nice cold
drinks. We also had an impromptu concert from a soon to be famous
pianist!! We then traveled to Jo Coon’s home where we again enjoyed a
tour of Jo’s home and quilting studio. We relaxed with some great cool
desserts, a slide show of pic’s taken at this year’s NQA show and a
showing of great artwork from a very talented artist indeed!! Thanks to
both Sandy and Jo for not only opening their homes to us, but also
sharing their musical and artistic talents with the rest of us.
