Happy Birthday and Anniversary wishes to all. (Let
us hope these are all correct this month!) In looking over my computer
program, almost everyone’s birthday or anniversary date had gotten
changed somehow. I will see about chasing the gremlins out of my hard
drive and getting it all fixed up once again.

My apologies to Carol for overlooking her when I
put together the roster book. Thanks for your understanding.
While I am on my apologies band wagon, let me
clarify that the May program was given by Peggy Waddington, not Mary Ann
Fitz. Sorry Peggy!!!
The June meeting was held on June 25th.
The program was given by Allison Gollehon from the Black Swamp Quilt
Shop in Milbury. She spoke on the use of wool in quilts and gave us
some great ideas on techniques and tools to make working with wool
successful.
The mystery tour that was held on June 21st
was discussed and deemed a great success for all who attended. We began
at the Follett House Museum in Sandusky, and then went to Sandy Erwin’s
for lunch, followed by Jo Coon’s for dessert. Please remember, this
mystery tour can only take place if members will graciously open their
home to us. If not for these two ladies, there would not have been a
trip this year. So next year, when someone calls to ask you to put your
home on the tour, please say yes. Your sewing room need not be
extravagant. We WANT to see how people sew in closets!!! And start
cleaning now so there will be NO excuses next year!!!
The Mystery Trip is planned for
Saturday, September 13, and we need $35
(for the bus and lunch) by August 15
(can be mailed to Peggy Horgan directly, made out to OSQG), or they can
give her a check (preferred over cash) at the next meeting (picnic).
Once again, surplus moneys will be returned based on the number of
individuals who sign up for the trip.
Other upcoming dates to fill your calendar with are
October 18, 2008, this will be a workshop on the It’s A Wrap technique.
You may remember the purse that I made with cloth-covered clothesline.
January 24, 2009, this will be the Mystery Quilt Class and is it ever
neat. Another good one to use up all those scraps should you chose to
do so!
Hopefully all of you have gotten your quilts ready
and have either dropped them off or are doing so today in preparation
for the quilt show this weekend. This will be my first quilt show with
the guild and I am looking forward to it. The show runs from 10-5 on
Friday, July 18 through Saturday, July 19th.
Raffle tickets should be selling like gangbusters
and I hope you are all really putting your best foot forward to sell as
many as possible. The organization we chose to donate to will not be
helping to sell tickets, but they still deserve our best effort. Now I
Lay Me Down to Sleep is a very worthy cause to support and I hope we can
turn over a big check to them.
Connie Starnesʼ blocks were turned in and Charlotte
McNerney’s were passed out to all those doing the block exchange. Some
really beautiful blocks are being made and it will be exciting to see
these quilts finished.
Hostesses for the month of August are Cece Henry,
Betty Finn, Donna DiCarlo, De Masing, and Debbie Beaulieu.
The July meeting will be our annual picnic. It will
be held on July 23 at 6pm at Veterans Park on Finke Rd. You will need
to bring a covered dish and one yard of UGLY fabric. Imagine any of us
having ugly fabric!!!!
There is also one other item
of I need to bring to your attention. Bonnie Legg and De Masing have
asked that someone else take over the raffle quilt until it is raffled
off in October. This is a Guild problem and will need the Guild to make
some important changes in the way the raffle quilt is handled from now
on. So please put on your thinking caps and have some ideas ready for
discussion at the August meeting.
See you at the quilt show!!!!!
