Ohio Star Quilter’s Newsletter-July       www.ohiostarquilters#131.com

Greetings my friends,

Hope that all of you have received the info regarding two upcoming events..the picnic in the park and the mystery trip. Peggy Horgan and her committee members have been busy making plans for two simply super events.

The picnic is the 25th in OAK HARBOR at Veteran’s Park come rain or shine. Several new recipes worth adding to your collection always make their debut there. And the only thing most of us like next to quilting is eating! Hope to see you all there.  If you have questions about the picnic, call Peggy Horgan or me and we will fill you in.

Hurrah for the bus for the Mystery trip on Saturday, September 15. Should be great fun for everyone to travel together and the price is reasonable. Sign up early to assure your spot on  the bus.

Our June meeting was busy. We were informed regarding the quilt show Kaleidoscope of Quilts XIII at Lourdes College in Sylvania on the 21 and 22 of July. If you have a quilt to enter, Catherine Lewis will be taking quilts in for the show on Monday the 16th.

STROLLING THROUGH A RAINBOW, our own quilt show, will be July 17-18, 2008. Sorry, Pat, I did not want to put you marriage at risk! Sandy Erwin is taking care of business!

The workshop committee will continue to pursue a top name quilter for a future workshop. Often planning must be done 2-3 years in advance. Meanwhile the committee will continue to provide interesting options for all guild members. Hinted future programs include those really fun traveling workshops and tour of homes. Volunteer..the result is that you  are forced to clean the house!  And that is a side benefit, speaking as one who does not like to dust!

Janet Lockhart received her quilt blocks from the exchange, and Connie Starnes passed her block out.  What a grand group of 14 ladies who now have, or will soon have, a quilt made by friends from the guild.

The Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure will benefit from a challenge by the staff at the Nautical Needle. With the kick-off on August 26th with a pizza party, a packet of material for 20.00 ( a percentage of which supports cancer research) will be available for purchase. With these fabrics, make a quilt, and place it on display so that votes, $1.00 each or $5 for 6, will determine the best of show. The proceeds of the voting will also support this cause. If you need an application form or info, call Jan.

The challenge ( three purples and a curve) was met by several of our members. Great fun to see what meets the challenge.

The finale for the evening was SHOW AND TELL with 6 members sharing their finished products. Always interesting to see what our ladies accomplish.

Happy Birthday to Phyllis Coats-11, Sharon Knoop-28, Hazel Kohlbarger-5, Phyllis Nuber-9, Gloria Shenkel-8, Diane Wadsworth-3, and Jackie Ziegler-3.

Happy Anniversary to Jo Coon-16, Donna DiCarlo-22, Sandy Erwin-30, Mary Ann Fitz-26, Peggy Horgan-26, Sue Koblin-4, Deanna Warren-9, and June Wood-7.

Keep those sewing machine humming………………Pat
