My dear ladies,
It was good to see so
many members present. Were we all looking forward to having Sharon up
front, presenting a informative program on folding flowers, and having a
most original presentation? One leg up and one leg down certainly kept
our attention!
De brought forth
discussion on a fund-raiser for the 2006-2007 year. A whole cloth quilt,
hand quilted and a pieced and appliquéd quilt were some of the
suggestions. Bonnie seems to think if everyone SELLS lots of tickets on
our original quilt, we will not need a project for the coming year. What
do you think?
No silver bracelets
were passed out. Let us surprise Cathi and her committee and show her
that we will cooperate!
The date for the
annual mystery trip has been rescheduled for September 30. It is a
Saturday so all of your working girls can join in the fun. It is a good
day spent with friendly quilters, visiting new shops, and gathering
ideas for the next project.
Remember to mark July
26 on your calendar for out annual Picnic in the Park. It is held at
Veteran’s Park in Oak Harbor. 6:30 is the time. Bring a white elephant
wrapped elegantly and a dish to share. Veteran’s Park is located inside
the town limits coming from the east. The second street on the right is
Finke Road. Turn right and you will see the shelter house. It is
always a good time.
Mary Hetrick had
oodles of news on the fast approaching quilt show to be held the 21 and
22 of July at Peace Lutheran Church in Port Clinton. Please volunteer to
fill a slot on her work sheets, or she threatened us with the quilt
Gestapo knocking on our doors. As a member of the guild, your
contribution to the projects is needed.
Quilts entered in the
show must have a 4” hanging sleeve and duplicate sheets filled with the
information on the quilt. Quilts may be dropped off at The Port Clinton
Library Monday July 17 from 10:30 –2:00 or any time at the Nautical
Needle.
Our guild quilt will
hang at the show with raffle tickets available for purchase. The
critique from the NQA show was read. We know that judges are not
objective, but subjective in their rating. We know that it was the BEST.
A pattern for
duplicating the quilt will be available at the show. Also, following the
show, Jo Coon will have a CD available for purchase with the entire
quilt show presentation on the CD.
Learning crazy-quilt
stitches was discussed for a guild project. A stitch-a-month is a
possibility. More information later. Keep tuned!

exchange project has 14 participants. The order of participation is as

HOORAY FOR SHOW AND
TELL!!!
Betty Fenn had her
batik completed that was started at the cutting bee last year. A
beauty! Pat Jones shared her red and white (the two-color quilt
workshop) quilt. She is ready for Christmas! And Sandy Erwin displayed a
baby quilt and we all sat up and took notice of the pink flaming quilt
made by Jacki Zeigler.
The web site address
is at the top of the page. If you have info to contribute, contact Penny
Groscost.
