OHIO STAR QUILTER’S
NEWSLETTER February 2007
Dear Friends,
Oh, baby, it is cold outside. This morning it was zero when I
went out to get the paper. And it has been cold like this for several
days. Those of you who stay close are aware of this, but some of those
basking in the warmer climes, need to be aware of what it is really
like.
The one good thing about this weather though, it keeps us in
and then we are able to get things done. I have been finishing UFO’s,
and I must confess on starting new things also.
Those of you who are participating in the two-color quilt
project on Saturday, will enjoy the fellowship of friends, good food,
and a day where you will feel a sense of accomplishment. I am looking
forward to Saturday.
Based on the input of members at the January meeting, it looks
like we will be planning a workshop with a known quilter. The money in
the bank is burning a hole in our pockets, and since that is the purpose
of fundraisers, those in attendance supported the idea of contacting
Anita Shackleford or Ami Simms or another well-known quilter.. Looking
forward to hearing about the plans.
I hope that most of you had the opportunity to sign up for the
activity you want for the 2007-2008 quilt year. The sheet will be
available again in February but if you have a specific request, call Sue
as she has the sign-up sheets.
A REMINDER! Dues of $15.00 are payable to Sandy Erwin. If you
want to be included in the roster for the coming year, be sure that dues
are paid by the March meeting.
Five Stim quilts were sent to the Linus project, a nationwide
quilting project for needy children.
Cathi Dix was busy handing out silver bracelets for those who
have met the challenge of something silver, and containing an Ohio Star
emblem. Cathi, you have certainly inspired a lot of various projects. It
is good to see members enthusiastic. What fun!
The loud speaker system was put on hold, as the cost and the
storage appeared to be large obstacles. We’ll keep working on a
solution.
Special Events Chairman Carol Hofacker announced that the
anniversary party in March will be potluck. Will check on the time and
keep you informed.
Sue Haering demonstrated the chain stitch and its variations
to those who have been steadfast in decorating their crazy quilt
stockings. Good stitch with many applications. Thanks, Sue.
Due to the Lenten season, Peace Lutheran will not be available
on our regular meeting dates. We will be meeting on the Tuesday night
before our regular scheduled meeting. So mark February 27th and March
27th for the next two meetings.
A great big thank you to the Show and Tellers! Seeing what
others accomplish should encourage all of us. Wouldn’t it be grand if
every member shared at least one project with the group. A good
resolution for 2007.
Take care, stay warm, and give your valentine a hug and a kiss!
