Once again, the July Picnic was threatened
by rain, but thanks to the shelter, we stayed dry. The committee came
up with an inventive way for many people to win prizes. All you had
to do was identify the playing card in your hand. Pretty easy for
most of us, but there are always the few.....No names please. Jo Coon
even managed to draw her own card!!! Jan Foard's Nautical Needle
donated many of the prizes . Thanks, Jan. We enjoyed great food ,
topped off with 5 gallons of chocolate ice cream provided by Sandy
Erwin.
Connie Starnes received her blocks this
month and Mary Widmer passed out the block she chose for the committee
to make . This committee is reaching the end of the list of
participants. It has been interesting and fun to work on all of the
different projects. Think about if you would like to form another of
these groups. We can explore the interest at the next Guild meeting
Wednesday, August 22.
The Mystery Trip committee has ordered a
bus for the trip and it is paid for thanks to the great response from
you all. As of last week, there are 42 signed up to go. Peggy Horgan
reports due to the number of participants we should get some money
back . The family of Alice Konecki, a Guild member who lost her
battle with cancer, donated her fabric, pattern and books to the
Guild. These things were available at the picnic and those who found
treasures, donated money for them which went towards the Mystery Trip
bus.
Congrats go out to Mary Widmer and
Catherine Lewis who won ribbons at the Kaleidoscope of Quilts Show.
