Greetings to sew many friends,
More time to
sew! Schools are open, the grass does not need mowing as often, so it
is time to get serious about all the many projects that were put off
because it was too hot. Quilt shops are filled with wonderful new
fabrics and the listings of new classes are endless. Always fun to try
something new.
Congratulations to our own Sue Haering who has a watercolor painting
accepted into a juried show. It will be on display from Sept. 2-Oct. 28
at the Firelands Association for the Visual Arts. We also commend Mary
Widmer for her blue ribbon quilt at the Pemberville Quilt Show. Talent
abounds!
Remember to
bring the crazy quilt stocking to the September meeting so that Beth can
show us the first stitch for the embellishment. Bring some floss of your
color choice, an embroidery needle, and a pair of scissors. If anyone
needs additional material to complete the stocking, give me a call or
e-mail me and I will bring a basketful to the meeting.
The mystery
trip will be on September 30 and the departure place will be the parking
lot of the IGA in Oak Harbor. We will depart at 8:30. Those coming from
the Port Clinton area can meet at Peace Lutheran parking lot at 8:00 AM
and car pool. It is always a great day, lots of new places, good food,
and best of all-fun with fellow guild members. You don’t want to miss
it! It will be a great opportunity to begin planning for the two-color
quilt workshop in February.
. We welcome
new members Bobbi Sorg, Becky Johnson, Sally Walter, Joey Watts, Kathy
Baker,Gabrielle Beck, Mary Ann Fitz, Kathy Welch, June Wood and Polly
Stuckman. Let’s everyone wear those name tags so we can all become
better acquainted.
Don’t forget
the QUILT CHALLENGE! Complete the project and you will have a new
bracelet for the holidays!
The quilt
block exchange gave Barb Hanny 13 additional star blocks in bright
colors. What a great way to share your talent. Looking forward to the
next 13 blocks for Pat M.
FOR SALE--Mary
Adams has a gently used Bernina Activa 130 that she is offering first to
any guild member for $500. Call her for more details if you are
interested.
We will have
Nancy Sullivan from Columbus as the speaker for our September meeting.
She will start her program on hats at seven o’clock and the business
meeting will follow.
