OHIO
STAR QUILTERS # 131 April 2007
Greetings!
I think that Spring is finally on the way and we can begin
thinking about all of those wonderful projects we delayed starting in
the cold weather.
Those of you who went on the Shop Hop have a head start on
the members who had to work or had other obligations.
Our anniversary party was a grand success. Thanks Carol
Hofacker, Beth Jadwisiak, and Connie Wax for your efforts. The food was
wonderful and bounteous. Not only do our members quilt well, but they
are surely good cooks.
Thanks to the leadership of Cathi Dix,
many members participated in the annual challenge. A bit of silver and
an Ohio Star..It appeared that about 20+ participated. Five of the
members came in under the wire. Thanks to all who participated.
Show and Tell had 2 more members who have
completed the piecing of the 2 color-mystery quilt. Both Pat Jones and
Bonnie Legg had the quilts up for display. Good work! How many more will
soon have theirs ready for sharing?
Thanks to the donation of
a quilt top and the generosity and work of others, a quilt will be
raffled off to support Sharon Knoop in the Relay for Life. Get your
raffle tickets from Peggy Horgan. $1.00 per ticket or 6 for $5.00. The
quilt will be on display at the American Legion Hall in Oak Harbor on
April 15 where a chicken dinner will raise additional funds to support
this cause. The Relay for Life will be held on May 12 and 13.
Gifts were presented to
Beth Jadwisiak and Connie Starnes in appreciation for the two years they
have held office.
New officers for the
2007-2009 years will be Penny Groscost as Vice-President and Cathi Dix
as Secretary. Thanks for being available to fill these positions.
The short business meeting
was concluded and then it was fun and games.
Birthdays in April are
Mary Hetrick 4/23, Donna Sijan 4/24, and Mary Widmer 4/25. Anniversaries
in April include Kathy Geisler 4/9. and Leona Newsome 4/3
Hostesses for the April
meeting are Sue Haering, Barb Hanny, Cathi Dix, and Jacki Ziegler.
If you do not have an
assignment for the Stim Quilt Sewing Bee to be held at our Regular
meeting on April 25 at 7:00 at Peace Lutheran Church, call Bonnie Legg
and she will find a slot for you. Don’t forget your sewing machine,
iron, ironing board, rotary cutter and mat or any item that you
volunteered to bring. |
