Connie Starnes
- How did you get started in
quilting?
I have always liked the way quilts looked.
My grandma made them. I joined the guild in 1992 and took classes from
Carol Swope.
- What accomplishments are you
most proud of?
Graduating from college and making a quit for my mom. It was a green
scrappy fan quilt. That was about 4-5 years ago.
- Have you ever put one of your
quilted pieces in a quilt show?
Yes. Not sure which one. I think it was Kaleidoscope. I entered my
mom’s green scrappy fan quilt.
- Finish these sentences:
- I still can’t get the hang
of . .
Binding
- The biggest enemy of
creativity is . .
No imagination and I have none!
- What was your worst quilting
disaster?
I was making a quilt for my cousin and put
a block in the wrong way. I just left it in the wrong way. After all
- only God’s perfect.
- Which quilter’s work do you
most admire and why?
Jackie Hopfinger. Ask to see her
“Baltimore appliqué “ quilt and you will know what I mean. Jackie just
started her last row. Jackie has been working on it for about 6-7
years.
- What creative endeavor do you
plan to learn next?
I have always wanted to do a “white on
white” quilt. I think that I will be working on that in the near
future.
- What advice would you give to
someone starting out in quilting?
Take a beginner’s class. Most join a quilt guild and think the guild
will give formal lessons – not so. |
