1. How did you get started in quilting?
I went to a program on quilting at our church. I was so impressed
that I went right out and purchased material. The woman who gave the
presentation owned a quilt shop in Port Clinton. That was many years
ago.
2.
What accomplishments are you most proud of?
I most proud of my “Best of Show” awards
for my wearable quilt projects at several quilt shows such as the
Kaleidoscope Quilt Show. I have also placed at many shows.
3.
Have you ever put one of your quilted pieces in a quilt show?
I usually enter quilt shows every year (
Kaleidoscope, NQA, Michigan).
4.
Finish these sentences.
I still can’t get the hang
of . . . I can’t think of anything right now. I like to do almost
anything with quilting and I really work at it. I may have lost some of
my skills the last couple of years.
The biggest enemy of creativity is . . .
Not taking the time to do something each
and every day to be creative. Even if you have just a few minutes you
need to think about being creative – think about what you want to quilt
or make – sketch your design. Take the time to be creative!
5.
What was your worst quilting disaster?
Making a block where the center ends up
looking like a volcano. I think we have all experienced that at some
time.
6.
Which quilter’s work do you most admire and why?
Judith Montano for her creativity with
embellishments and satin ribbon.
www.judithbakermontano.com
Elly Sienkiewicz for her outstanding appliqué
www.ellysienkiewicz.com
Carol Doak for her
paperpiecing.

7.
What creative endeavor do you plan to learn next?
Nothing. I have so many UFOs (unfinished
objects) that I will not allow myself to think beyond those projects.
8.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in quilting?
Start with something small.
Be open to color.
Find a multicolored piece
of fabric that you love and would enjoy
working with and add as
much color as possible.
Do not be intimidated.
