- How did you get started in
quilting?
I worked with
Joanne Foust at Hearts & Flowers, little gift shop. She and Catherine
Lewis and Sharon Knoop invited me to one of the quilt guild meetings
many years ago.
- What accomplishments are you
most proud of?
I have won a few ribbons at the
Kaleidoscope Quit Show. And each project that I do looks a little bit
better than the last.
- Have you ever put one of your
quilted pieces in a quilt show?
Yes – Kaleidoscope Quilt Show and our own
guild quilt show.
- Finish these sentences:
- I still can’t get the hang
of . .
Being very good at hand quilting
- The biggest enemy of
creativity is . .
Finding time to get from point A to point B
- What was your worst quilting
disaster?
Years ago the
guilt guild members made a quilt that was made up of Biblical blocks.
They were machined pieced and the center of the quilt was a Tree of
Life. My blocks just did NOT fit well together, but I did finish it and
it turned out okay. I think there are some who have never finished
their quilt.
- Which quilter’s work do you
most admire and why?
Pat Mensing –
she is such an inspiration. She accomplishes so much. She just dazzles
me each month with what she has accomplished.
- What creative endeavor do you
plan to learn next?
Machine quilting
– this is something I have always wanted to do.
- What advice would you give to
someone starting out in quilting?
Take a beginner class and learn all the
basics from someone good. Find someone to mentor you and have them take
you under their wing. |
